About Us
Friends of the Florence Nightingale Museum was founded in 2022 by a small group of nurses in Ohio, USA. Here are our current leaders.
Donna Miles Curry, PhD, RN, FAAN — Chief Executive Officer Donna Miles Curry is professor emeritus of nursing at Wright State University and historian for the university's College of Nursing and Health. With more than 45 years of experience in pediatric and family nursing, she has served as a nurse, educator, and administrator and has helped lead several professional organizations, including the International Family Nursing Association. Dr. Curry has served as a Trustee of the Florence Nightingale Museum in London since 2021 and continues to contribute to the history and advancement of nursing.
Janet Michaelis, RN — President Janet Michaelis is an emergency nurse and civic technology advocate based in Dayton, Ohio. Over a five-decade career she has worked in trauma centers, emergency medical services research, and hospital education programs, and has contributed to published research on disaster medicine and emergency response. Michaelis is active in several professional and civic organizations and serves as president of the Friends of the Florence Nightingale Museum.
Megan Beck, RN, BSN — Treasurer Megan Beck is a registered nurse at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati and previously completed a degree in humanities at The Ohio State University. Beck brings a broad background in health care and community engagement to her nursing practice.
Patricia O'Malley, PhD, APRN-CNS, CCRN — Board Member Patricia O'Malley is a nurse scientist and clinical nurse specialist whose work focuses on advancing nursing research and evidence-based practice. She has authored more than 130 peer-reviewed publications and mentors nurses and students in research across numerous universities. O'Malley also serves as a peer reviewer for major medical journals and presents nationally on nursing research, ethics, and clinical practice.
Friends of the Florence Nightingale Museum is a separate legal entity from the Florence Nightingale Museum in London, UK. We are established as a not-for-profit corporation under Chapter 1702 of the Ohio Revised Code, and we have a 501(c)3 status per the United States Internal Revenue Service. This allows US taxpayers to deduct contributions to Friends of the Florence Nightingale Museum on their federal tax returns. You can read our privacy policy here.
